The appeal to the consumer of the Nespresso D300 espresso maker will be based on a person’s attitude to coffee capsule technology. As the Nepresso D300 is part of Nepresso family of nepresso makers, you will only be able to use Nepresso coffee capsules with this product.
Before I describe to you some of the benefits and drawbacks of using this machine, let me give you an overview of the technology that powers the D300. The machine works off pre-programmed technology. This allows someone who doesn’t want to keep altering the settings for a drink, set all the programming features just once.
For example, the pre- programmed functionality on the Nepresso D300 allows you to set the strength of each espresso shot. Additional programming features allow you to adjust the language of the digital display, regulate warning buttons indicating water hardness and adjust the buttons that control water scaling. In fact, the level of programming detail is so precise it will even let you control the quantity of coffee you have in your cup.
As I stated at the beginning of this article, because this is a Nepresso machine you will be working with capsule technology. This has advantages and disadvantages. In terms of advantages, the capsules, unlike ground coffee, generate very little mess. Using the capsule couldn’t be easier: inserting the capsule into it’s holder will create a hole in it’s outer casing. This allows the coffee to seep into the machine. Once you‘ve carried out this procedure, it’s very easy to repeat again. As the coffee is contained within the capsule, there is no need for tamping and grounding and thus less mess. The other advantage capsules give you over ground coffee  is the coffee within the capsules stay fresher for longer. Bear in mind though that to extend their longevity the capsules should be stored in a cool, dark place.
On the downside, it is not possible to mix and match coffee flavours with these capsules: you can only use Nespresso capsules. However this is not really a disadvantage as such because the capsules produce such great flavours!
You also need to be aware that the capsules do work out marginally more expensive than ground coffee. The cost based on the number supplied with the pack is approximately $ 0.45 cent a shot. But remember, the trade off with capsules is their convenience and the fact they leave no mess.
In addition to the full rich flavours, there are vast number of coffee types to choose from. For example, there are Arabic and decaf flavours, in addition to Latin American and African blends.
The power of Nepresso D300 is driven in no small part by the 19 bars of pressure generated by it’s pressure pump. This helps maximizes all the flavours from the capsules and, for such a compact machine, produce remarkably tasty coffee.
One minor quibble I’d have is the fact that the water tank is on the small side. But on the upside ,because of this, the machine takes up very little space on the work top.
So, in conclusion if your looking for a machine that will take up very little space in your kitchen, is easy to use and comes with minimum fuss, then you should consider having a look at the Nepresso D300.
